The Little Big Horn Associates is governed by an elected board of seven members, and its administration and publication functions are performed by qualified members without compensation. All expenses are paid from dues, donations, and special projects.
LBHA publishes a quarterly newsletter that contains historical articles, service advertisements, and news of the organization and meetings. The award winning Research Review: The Journal of the Little Big Horn Associates is published twice a year and features full color art as well as articles that have been researched and written by some of the most respected Custer scholars in the nation. A portion of the dues from donor and sustaining members is used to assist the organization in its study and reporting of historical facts.
The Little Big Horn Associates holds an annual conference, alternating even numbered years east of the Mississippi River and odd numbered years west of the Mississippi. The sites selected must have some tie to General Custer.
